Illuminate Wellness – Start Where You Are

The hashtag I use on social media quite often is ‪#‎noexcuses‬. Why do I use this?

There are several people, including myself, who have ailments that literally knock them off of their feet. Yet they still do what they have to do to push themselves to the next step in health. It doesn’t matter if it’s in your eating habits or in movement, there are no excuses not to push forward to a healthier/slimmer you!

People make excuses as to why they cannot eat healthy, why they cannot give up certain foods, or why they cannot move. So sorry to say, but unless you are on your last leg or extremely ill, there is no excuse.  There’s no need to quickly jump into a whole new routine.  You simply have to start where you are.

I introduce and teach to my clients the method of crowding in/crowding out because it really works. Portion control will not help you if you are still eating the same foods you are not willing give up. So start putting more good stuff on your plate and make the other stuff smaller. This will bring forth subtle changes, but you will see that you are making a difference.

The same goes for drinking water.  There’s the gallon challenge surfacing on social media where there are times and lines drawn on a gallon of water without being measured.  People are jumping into drinking a gallon of water and not able to function normally through the day due to nature callings.  If you didn’t drink a gallon of water today, what makes you think you can drink a gallon of water tomorrow?  Take note of what you are drinking daily and start by adding 3-4 ounces more every few days until you get to the desired water intake for your weight.

When it comes to movement, I understand more than some will ever know the challenges people face as I’ve been in a place where moving was not feasible.  Again start from where you are.  Start lifting weights with 16oz cans of food as a start if you are starting at the bottom. Walk down the street and back if you cannot make it around the block. As you push yourself to do more, you will find the more you can do.

When I made my transition, I did it by changing the way I ate little by little, I lost quite a bit of weight on food alone.  When I felt comfortable enough to move, I did and now I’m able to walk more than 3 miles per day and I’m still building my energy up to do more.

If you are not already illuminating your wellness, what will be your first step starting from where you are?

Love, Light and Wellness,

Health Coach Natasha
